When is camp!

Thank you for your interest in the UOIT Robotics Camp – all of our camp spaces for 2008 are now full.  Please contact us if you would like to reserve a space for 2009.

There are three weeks of camp to choose from!

Co-Ed Camps
July 7 – 11, 2008
July 14 – 18, 2008

Girls Camp!
July 21 – 25, 2008

Each camp is 5 days from 9:00am – 4:00pm each day. On the final day of each week, campers will have the chance to show-off what they have achieved and what their robots can do at our "Family Showcase". Our camper/counselor ration is 8:1 and our counselors are all graduates of the Faculty of Education at UOIT.

Who is Robotics Camp for?

Robotics camp is recommended for kids ages 9 – 13. No experience with LEGO Robotics is necessary, but campers must have completed Grade 4 by the end of June 2008.

It’s a Girl Thing!!

The third week of camp is for girls only! Our girls camp is an opportunity for campers to meet other girls who share their interest in discovering more about engineering, programming and robotics. Our girls camp includes all of the same building and design challenges as the Co-ed Camps – but just for girls to explore and learn. The girls week will be led by female counselors.

The Robotics System

Campers will work in pairs using the LEGO® Mindstorms NXT Robotics ™ system to imagine, design and build their robot from scratch! This system features state-of-the-art ultrasonic, sound, light and touch sensors in the next generation of intuitive robotics! As the camp week progresses, campers are introduced to a variety of additional sensors and systems for building and programming even more complex robots. To learn more about the world of LEGO® robotics, please visit their homepage at

Key camp principles

Campers will be guided through camp and will build skills in:
  • Teamwork and collaboration (students will work in pairs)
  • Problem-solving
  • Fundamentals of programming
  • Mechanical engineering and design
  • Software design
In addition to building robots, students will have a daily session of physical activity and the opportunity to explore engineering and robotics at UOIT.
